The assignment

A new connection.
Built in motion.

Vector built a new 24-inch final delivery point meter station in Abilene, Texas, establishing a natural gas connection for a new data center load. Multiple parallel meter runs were sized for required throughput and maintenance isolation while the station took shape inside an active, shared construction site.

Meter station

New 24-inch final delivery point station with multiple parallel meter runs and additional small meters for auxiliary equipment.

Civil / trenching

In-ground header trenching across a congested site, including dewatering through repeated rain events and coordination around shared access.

Fabrication + valves

Full yard and field fabrication, field dimensional verification, and installation of Bettis actuated valves tied into the station’s emergency shutdown system.

Field execution

The site

moving.

Fabrication began in the Vector yard on March 15 to get ahead of the schedule. Crews mobilized April 15 and completed the station June 1 while coordinating with data center contractors, an adjacent wind farm, scheduled blasting shutdowns, shared access, and changing ground conditions. Every weld received 100% X-ray inspection; repairs were resolved without a cutout, and field dimensional checks caught issues before installation.
